This is not an easy task. It takes a good understanding of velocity mechanics and the will to work and train hard and smart. If you are looking for a quick fix then you are wasting your time. I spent five years of my career only working on reaching my velocity goal of 93 mph and it was the hardest thing I have ever done. If increasing velocity was easy then the web would not be full of people claiming to have the secrets to its success. If you are going to reach your velocity goals it will be by learning how to become more total body in your pitching delivery and by developing more fast twitch muscle fibers with a good strength and conditioning program. Tryout camps are open for all players over 16 years of age. There is no fee. Registration will be done 30 minutes prior to start of camp. All players must bring their own equipment. IMPORTANT: Each player must sign a liability waiver to participate. If player is under age 21, a parent or legal guardian must also sign the waiver. A waiver can be obtained in advance at mlb.com or at tryout camp registration. Tryouts subject to change.
DO NOT ATTEND A TRYOUT CAMP WITHOUT READING THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
Do not make the mistake and attend a MLB tryout camp without knowing what to expect and what they will expect of you. If you plan to make an impact this year with scouts I recommend that you visit at least two different camps in distant locations. Call up some teammates and make it a road trip. Each camp may have area scouts from different clubs and scouting bureau scouts who run the tryouts. The reason for attending more than one is to put yourself in front of as many area scouts as possible.

Pitching Chart
November 22, 2009
A pitching chart is a very valuable tool for a pitcher and a coach. For the pitcher it shows you your weaknesses and strengths. It tells you what pitches are working on what batters and what pitches are not working on what batters. It also tells you how many pitches you are throwing per inning which is valuable information for your Coach. Your Coach should know your limit and be prepared to rescue you if you are getting close to your redline. Read more

MLB tryouts 101
July 19, 2009
Every ball player wants a chance to be evaluated as a potential Major League Baseball player. It is a chance to chase a dream and the opportunity to put yourself out there hoping for the best. The problem is the odds of being a Major League ball player is 1 out of 290,000. That is like winning the lottery. I am the last guy who wants to shoot down someones dream, especially someones dream to play major league baseball, because I had the same dream. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to the MLB but some of my friends did and I at least had the opportunity to play professional minor league baseball. Which means I beat the odds of playing professional baseball which is 1 out of 3700. Not as impressive as the MLB but still an amazing experience that changed my life forever. Read more

Biomechanics of Elbow Injuries During Throwing
June 21, 2009

Pathomechanics
Biomechanics of Elbow Injuries During Throwing
Elbow injuries in pitchers can be divided into three types, based upon their location within the joint. All three types of elbow injuries are related to the large rotational force – called “torque” – needed to slow down the cocking of the arm and accelerate the forearm, hand, and ball forward. Elbow torque is greatest when the arm is in its maximum cocked position.
Medial Elbow Injuries – The Ulnar Collateral Ligament
From the cocked position, the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) pulls the forearm forward with the rotating upper arm. The tremendous tension produced in the relatively small UCL is close to its limit. Read more
